Great news on funding!

The state of the Food Bank’s finances had been worrying us recently; though our running costs are very low by comparison with most charities (because we are entirely voluntary) we do have basic costs - principally fuel, various insurances and depot maintenance. At the beginning of March the money was running out.

So it’s great to be able to report that we have had  several significant donations recently. Two colleges – University College  and The Queens’ College – have both given generously. Their donations are the most recent from the university – last year we had money from All Souls, Jesus, Merton, St John’s and Linacre. Thank you to them all.

We also received a really big boost to our campaign to raise money for another vehicle and a proper cold storage facility at the depot. Oxford Spires Rotary Club given us £2,500 – a fantastic effort by them and a great boost for us. Thank you to all their members.

Soon we will be launching our Friends of the Foodbank scheme. We’ll be hoping to enlist the support of the Oxford business community to give us a helping hand. We’ll let you know all about it soon.
